The challenges facing public servants will not disappear with a change in leadership.

This government has already cut thousands of public sector jobs over recent years.

Those cuts have reduced the capacity of the public service and placed increasing pressure on the workers who deliver essential services. The Liberal Party has also committed to further cuts, which would only make the situation worse.

A change in the Victorian Labor Party's leadership does not change our focus. Our job is to defend the public service and the essential services that Victorians rely on every day.

Public servants keep this state running. They respond to emergencies, protect vulnerable people, maintain our parks, support our courts and prisons, care for our wildlife, and deliver countless other services that communities depend on.

Victorians deserve a public service that is properly funded, properly staffed and able to deliver the high-quality services they expect.

The CPSU will continue to hold the government to account and campaign for secure public sector jobs, fair wages and the investment needed to rebuild our public services.

Regardless of who the Premier is, our message remains the same: no more job cuts.
