The Victorian Government has commissioned a consultant to review public service spending. Feedback so far suggests this is largely a box-ticking exercise, with Big Build infrastructure projects and integrity agencies exempted.
This so-called “efficiency review” is unlikely to uncover what’s really going on — but you know where the waste is.
If you’ve seen:
- Inefficient use of labour hire or consultants
- Duplication of work
- Chronic staff shortages
- Suspensions on full pay with no resolution
- Career opportunities being blocked
- Endless restructures or staffing freezes
