Impending Closure & Moves to Atwood plus Bundoora
CPSU has set up a process by which the union will be negotiating with DPI about the proposed relocations and this forum will be used to address the concerns raised by members, and to negotiate the best outcome for everyone.

Impending Frankston & Knoxfield Site Closures
With the proposed move of Biosciences staff to Bundoora in October, and the eventual relocation of other staff to Atwood, members meetings will be held at Frankston and Knoxfield.
The Frankston meeting will be at 12:30pm, and the Knoxfield meeting will be at 3:30pm this Friday

DPI has notified CPSU of a proposal to move the Werribee Chemistry Lab to the EPA Lab in Macleod with the 621 Sneydes Road site is in poor condition and needing significant investment to upgrade to acceptable levels.
DPI are proposing EPA's Macleod site as it provides the best scientific alignment and site facilities to improve the department s capability in chemistry sciences.

Future Directions Review Clarification
CPSU recently received correspondence from DPI clarifying the status of the Future Directions Review as this review has been a long standing issue with CPSU flagging concerns as early as October 2007 then DPI originally framed the review as an implementation of change.

KIT Consultants Settle Seven Month Battle with DPI
After a long haul, KIT Consultants affected by the restructure announced on 5th August 2008 have reached a resolution point with DPI with a win on the proposal to centralise and relocate Library Services.
KIT Cs have opposed the proposal to relocate library services since its announcement.
DPI s proposal will remove the face of library services from its regional and metropolitan research sites and consolidate them at Attwood.

Snobs Creek Make Gains
Snobs Creek members affected by the massive restructure announced on 5th August 2008 which will see 40 key scientific positions across regional Victoria threatened are still battling strong in their campaign to oppose their forced relocation.
The Snobs Creek alternative proposal was lodged with DPI on 17th December 2008.

Fisheries Research Expertise in Jeopardy.
For over 50 years the State Government’s iconic facility at Snobs Creek has been a focal point for freshwater fisheries and aquaculture research, fish production and education in Victoria but this and 165 years of Victorian Freshwater Fisheries Research Expertise is now under threat if Snobs Creek is closed.

Snobs Creek Community Meeting
Congratulations to Snob s Creek members who held a very successful community meeting last Thursday night about the effects of the recent announcement to restructure DPI s facilities which would see 11 local staff either relocated to Queenscliff or redeployed within the public service away from their local communities.
