Electorate Officer legislation rushed to Queen s representative.

The amendment to the Local Government Act, which will result in many electorate officers being forced to choose between their employment and their Council positions, is currently before Parliament with the Government remaining unmoved by CPSU representations on the unfairness of the legislation, the over-reaction it represents and the personal and financial cost to affected employees.

Electorate Officers Agreement Update
All Victorian Electorate Officers received a 4.5% pay rise in November due to our maintained nexus between the Commonwealth Electorate Officers Agreement and our Agreement.
Negotiations have been sporadic and slow however Parliament is seeking to discontinue the pay nexus with the Commonwealth.
CPSU will only consider this option if there is a substantial benefit to members.

Members Vote'Yes' to New Ministerial Agreement
CPSU members have overwhelmingly endorsed the new Agreement in an email vote.
Key Features include;
1. A new 4-year agreement expiring on 1 October 2011 following a request from the government for a four-year deal to avoid any possible conflict with the election year (2010).
2. Pay increases of:

ELECTORATE OFFICERS AGREEMENT MEETING.
An information session will be held to discuss CPSU's draft log of claims for a new Electorate Officers Agreement.
The Log was developed by the delegates group and is based on results from the recently distributed survey.
