Fair Work Australia presided over our dispute about VicPol's failure to follow their own recommendations and to have the current review suspended until the parties resolve matters arising from the previous review.

State Intelligence Review - FWA Dispute Lodged

CPSU has lodged a dispute with Fair Work Australia following the Departments decision to renege on its 2009-10 Review recommendations.
 

In December 2009, Crime theme desks were realigned from the Crime Department to the State Intelligence Department.

This gave rise to a review of State Intelligence which commenced in March 2010.

Janus - Public Prosecutions

Government Inquiry - OPP & DPP

The Attorney-General has announced an inquiry into the recent media reports surrounding the operation of the OPP and DPP.

 

He has appointed former Justice Frank Vincent to undertake this inquiry.

The inquiry will be concluded within 8 weeks.

In late 2010 CPSU advised they would be conducting a workshop to assist CPSU members prepare a case to have their positions reviewed and we have been contacted by members and scheduled a training day for Monday 24th January 2011.

Pool Tables in Prisons
Deputy Commissioner Rod Wise issued an instruction back in August to withdraw all pool cues and balls from correctional facilities after two further incidents involving assaults using pool cues and balls at maximum and medium security prisons.

Public Sector Standards Commisioner - OPP Grievance Process Carpeted

CPSU have been in dispute with OPP about the way it conducted an internal review of a grievance application lodged by a CPSU member.

 

The dispute revolved around OPP s failure to accord our member 'Natural Justice' in the grievance review process and their failure to conduct the review in compliance with Public Sector Standards, which of course are legally binding.
