Regional Victorian communities are being devastated by breaking news that a major regional employer, DSE, has started telling hundreds of staff on contracts that their job will finish.  8 fixed term people within Public Land in the south west have already been advised (tapped on the shoulder) that they will finish at expiry of contract (all between now and 30/6)  Can this policy be anymore inhumane?

Premier Lists Exempt Jobs – R U Mentioned?

During Question Time, Premier Ted Baillieu read through a list of occupations stating these were exempt from his job cuts or the Sustainable Government (sic) policy.  Is your job mentioned by the Premier?

'There are automatic exemptions for schools, hospitals, TAFEs, police, allied health workers, clerks of courts, custodial officers, forensic officers, juvenile justice workers, sheriff’s officers, child protection workers, community correction officers, disability support workers, housing service officers, school nurses, fire-fighters, and other exemptions are available at the direction and decision of departments.’

Later that week in Parliament, Premier Ted Baillieu failed to answer specifically whether Business and Innovation employees were 'back of office'.

With other exemptions available from your Department says the Premier, CPSU encourages all our members to contact HR or their manager and ask for the list to see who's also exempt.

E-mail CPSU on enquiry@cpsuvic.org with the response.

Victoria's population has grown 20% in the last ten years and families are crying out for services yet the public service is one third less in number now than it was 20 years ago.

The Government's key election commitments were to fix basic services and protect PS jobs and you can't remove 3,600 employees without impacting on services.

Every employee contributes to the delivery of services and we're ALL frontline.

3,600 Public Service Jobs Redundant as Government Betrays Election Commitments

The Government's key election commitments were to fix basic services and protect PS jobs.

The announcement by the Government of so many job redundancies is a major betrayal for all those that cast their vote in November 2010 for change.

They've out scrooged Scrooge.  The sort of Christmas present that has you racing to exchange on boxing day.

You can't remove this number of employees without impacting on services.  Every employee contributes to the delivery of services.

There are no second class employees.                                State Govt IR policies inc VDP info & 3 year job ban

Every support person removed means front liners spend more time out the back.

The announcement makes no sense while the Vertigan Inquiry into the State’s finances is still to report.  The work just won't magically disappear so the Government must be preparing the ground for privatisation.

Victoria's population has grown 20% in the last decade but the Service is 1/3 less in size than it was 20 years ago.  Victorians are demanding quality services.

The Baillieu Government is punishing their workforce while failing to reign in bonuses paid to executives or the waste on labour hire, consultants and contractors.

The impact of these cuts on public services will curtail this Governments tenure just like it did to Jeff Kennett when he slashed 30,000 jobs in the 90's.

Kennett elected in October 1992 and gone by October 1999.  Baillieu elected in November 2010 and gone by .............................. 2014? 2018?

Government's that fail to invest in public services, and that means employing people to deliver those services, don't last more than two terms.

Sacking workers to build roads and bridges has never delivered long term governments.

67 State Governments formed since 1855.  Average = 850 days.

Contrast Baillieu's policies with the policies adopted by these long serving Premiers

Bolte - 6288 days, Bracks/Brumby - 4063 days, Hamer- 3209 days, Dunstan - 3088 days, Cain Jnr - 3047 days.
