123 Years of the CPSU Print E-mail

Commencing in 1885, our union has been around for 123 years and has achieved incredible improvements in the conditions of the Victorian Public Sector workers.

The CPSU was founded in 1885 by public servants who desperately wanted the foundation of an independent system for setting terms and conditions for Victorian Public Service workers, and an end to the system of political patronage.

Over 100 years later our broad aims remain similar to those of the founding president R.J.Ellery. The CPSU continues the struggle for fair and reasonable working conditions for the public service and associated industries.
